NFL Playoffs Wild Card Weekend
Time to get the real men out there as we head into the NFL Playoffs with Wild Card Weekend! Doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday action starts late afternoon in the east with Indianapolis at Houston at 4:30. The Texans have been amazing this year but Andrew Luck is back and the Colts are on a roll.
This is the first ever post-season meeting between these 2 rivals and all the numbers favor Indy. Colts are 5-1 S/U and 5-0-1 ATS at Houston. Only 1 of the last 10 meetings has been decided by more than 1 score and both games this year where field goal finales. Colts getting 1 pt is juicy. Getting ANY points is good with me. Take the Neck beard to turn off the juice at NRG stadium.
The Saturday Night Special is in Arlington, Texas where the Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks. Dallas D is the strength and they can run the football which makes Dak Prescott better. Seattle has the better coach & QB, can also run the ball, but something tells me the fully juiced Jerry Dome will rival the 12th man vibe up in the Pacific Northwest. A small spread of 2 makes it that much more enticing to take the Boys and lay the points.
Sunday…the LA Chargers are playing a 1-pm game on the East Coast so it’ll feel like 10am to them at kickoff: does that matter? Baltimore has been great on defense and the rookie QB has given them life. Ravens made Phillip Rivers look below average the last time the played a few weeks ago, but this is playoff football and Phillip Rivers may not have many more chances to advance in the post season of his lock HOF career, so I’ll take the underdog Chargers and the 3 pts to cover the number and win the game OUTRIGHT!
And finally, Da Bears faithful will be jacked up at Solider Field for the late afternoon match-up with the Super Bowl Champion Eagles who come in riding a red hot Nick Foles for the 2nd straight post-season.
First playoff taste for Chicago since 2010, Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy worked together and are familiar with each others offenses, but the defenses will probably be the deciding factor. Bears acquisition of Khalil Mack has made them the new Monsters of the Midway. They’re the No 1 scoring, rushing and take-away defense and rarely have to send extra players to pressure the QB. I love Nick Foles, but if he can find a way to score enough pts to win this game, the fans in Philly will spontaneously combust. Bears offense is still not scary to me, and I think they find a way to win the game – but I’ll take the Eagles with the 6 pts to keep it close.
