NFL Playoffs Divisional Round Picks
I humbly apologize for not getting this to you sooner but it has been a very emotional few weeks for us with my son and daughter in law losing a baby on Tuesday down in Annapolis, MD
Here are the picks for this weekends games. Went undefeated last week and hope to keep it rolling in the post season. Thanks for your understanding.
After an undefeated Wild-Card weekend to start the post season, it’s time to keep the streak going in what they call the Divisional Round. I call it the Final 4 in each conference or “winners move on for next week’s games and a shot at going to Super Bowl 52 in Atlanta.
Let’s start off with the 2 Saturday offerings – and just like last week, the underdogs are barking right up my tree. The bookies took a beating last weekend as the public hit the dogs hard and if you could bet on who they’re rooting for this weekend, take the favorites!
The amazing Colts open things up in KC where they awakened to snow, but not enough to affect the game. Chiefs have been a machine behind Patrick Mahomes and will need to score early and often because the KC defense has been leaking of late. Will the dome team from Indy look different outside in the elements? Luck vs Mahomes should be fun, but I think the Colts find a way to keep this close enough to cover the 5 point spread.
The NFC semi-final is in LA and also outside. Dallas plays indoors as well, but is built to go outside with the running attack and great defense. Pressure is on the home town Rams as a 7 point favorite. Todd Gurley has been hurt and might not be 100%. My gut tells me this one will be close as well and don’t be shocked if the boys pull off the outright upset. Dallas +7. Woof, Woof, the sequel.
On Sunday, back to earlier start times as the Chargers are back on the east coast after proving playing early against a great defense didn’t matter last week in Baltimore. We know the stats. Pats at home 11-1 in divisional round, Rivers is 0-7 versus Brady..yada, yada. LA can’t make mistakes against the grizzled vets in Foxboro, but if they click on offense against a less than spectacular Pats defense, the River could run thru it and be back in the AFC title game for the first time in over a decade. I’m also liking the Chargers with the 4 pts. If you think a team could win the game outright, you must take the points.
Finally, the Nick Foles watch marches into the SuperDome against the same team which embarrassed them in Week 10. Many think the Cinderella ride will come to a crashing end 1 game short of the NFC championship
game, but this Eagles team isn’t the same squad and neither are the Saints. Home field thru-out was a hard fought fight for the incredible Drew Brees and they’ve had 2 weeks to get rested and ready to get back on track.
Philly hasn’t been able to run out the clock on teams all year and if they can’t mount long, time eating drives against the Saints and not force a turnover or 2, it will be the end of the Champs run. I still think the Eagles keep it close enough to cover the high priced 8 pt spread. So there you have it, another underdog filled weekend of NFL action.
