NFL Week 17 Tony Bruno Stone Cold Lead Pipe Locks

NFL Week 17 and a couple NCAA Bowl Games: While many folks traveled this holiday season to visit family and friends, 20 NFL teams will be packing up for a long cold winter away from football as the final week of the regular season is upon us.

Since you’ve all been good boys and girls, I am unsheathing a 5 pack of NFL selections and am throwing in the 2 only college bowl games that matter on Saturday as my Holiday gift package just for you!

Bowl Games

Now that the parade of 37 mostly unwatchable bowl games (aka filler programming) are out of the way, the bellyaching about the college playoffs not including more teams comes to an end as the 4 “best” colleges square off in the largest spreads in the history of this imperfect system to decide if Alabama can be knocked off again.

All 8 previous winners of the semi-finals have not only emerged victorious, they all also covered the point spreads, thus bookmakers await an onslaught of parlays and teasers as the average bettor shy away from the high priced spreads.

In the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Clemson a 12 1/2 pt pick over Notre Dame, but 62% of bettors are on the Irish and the money line. I’m taking Notre Dame with the pts.

Alabama remains a 2 td fave over Oklahoma as the Sooners not getting much love from Vegas, but 70% of gamblers are taking the money line hoping for an upset and better payoff. Have to take Oklahoma getting the pts here as well in the Orange Bowl in Miami.

On the final NFL Sunday before the annual Black Monday coaching bloodbath which expects to be extra deadly this year, I’ve got 5 selections for your New Years’ Eve Eve pleasure.

Lots on the line in several games so we’ll start with Baltimore seeking to avenge an early season loss to a Browns team which has gotten better every day since Hue Jackson was finally ousted. Ravens need this one and the defense is playing at a high level; methinks too high for the rising star Baker Mayfield and Cleveland to overcome. RAVENS – 5 1/2 is the pick.

Houston is a TD favorite over the hot mess that is Jacksonville and after giving up 4 td’s a Nick Foles and the Eagles, DeShaun Watson and company need to head into the post season on a high note. I’ll lay the 6 1/2 with the TEXANS at home.

The Rams finally snapped out of the funk last weekend in a total demolition of the hapless Arizona Cardinals and always have a tough time with the pesky 49’ers who haven’t quit down the stretch. Normally, the would mail this one in approaching the playoffs and expect Todd Gurley to rest again, but they need to find a way to just win the game. That’s why I’m taking the generous 10 pts and SAN FRANCISCO.

The other LA team has been hurting me with the point spread a lot this year, but luckily, they have a Denver team that has flat-out quit on Vance Joseph and already dreaming of vacation plans. CHARGERS laying 6 1/2 is the selection as John Elway ponders new coaches and another reboot at QB in the mile high city.

Finally, Sunday Night Football in Nashville will decide a playoff spot as the Titans host the Colts. Andrew Luck has been superb going 10-0 straight up and 7-1-2 against the spread this come back season. Marcus Mariota will probably take his banged up body out onto the field, but INDY gets the win and the playoff berth and covers the 3 1/2.

Happy 2019 to all of my faithful followers and hope the New Year brings, health, joy and gambling successes. Don’t drink and drive, don’t text and drive and God Bless America, it’s still the greatest place on Earth!
